5:30 a.m. anecdote

07.1.2010

I poured milk ino the instant coffee you made- so Israeli, and so tacky. The first time you made me coffee, you made it the way you drank it at home, with Cardamom and in a small brass pot.
You opened the door and I walked downstairs. “When I get home (3:23am) I will record a demo of the new song for Monday.” You look back at me with your hand under your t-shirt, scratching your hair chest and say, “Yalla, there’s no time in spirituality”.

I can only laugh. And the donkey I’m riding is so buzzed on coffee and sleep deprivation right now, but by 5a.m. the song is demo’d. It’s called New Glasses. It starts beautiful and sensitive and ends still sensitive, but not after being a little crass.

final verse:

I get my infrastructure by the way of the masses
Who pardon me for saying their heads are lower than their asses
I want to thank you guys for these new glasses
It’s only by your power that I’ll get myself past this
It’s only by your power that I’ll get myself past this
